large retail outlets in this century is due to a series of socio-cultural
and economic reasons arising from, in the first place, the establish- ment of commerce and the consumer marketplace as the basic foundation of the contemporary macroeconomy; and secondly, the close ties in our society between leisure and consumption, so closely identified in the mind of the public.
